Germany is a country full with wonderful landscapes, cities and culture. I’m glad for living here and I love traveling through Germany! Here are a few facts about Germany.
Bavaria is the largest German state by land area and the state, where I live in. In Bavaria you can find the most wonderful lakes and mountains! The capital of Germany is Munich, Germanys 3rd largest city. Bavaria is known for the Oktoberfest in Munich, beer, mountains like Germanys highest mountain (Zugspitze) and its culture. Bavarians are deeply connected to their culture as you will see during your travels. Famous citys among Munich are Regensburg, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Würzburg, Bamberg and Passau. Bavaria is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Germany, because of its culture and nature.
Baden-Württemberg is Germanys third-largest state and in the southwest of Germany. The largest city is Stuttgart with a popluation of around 600.000. Famous citys among Stuttgart are Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Ulm, Heilbronn, Mannhein and Heidelberg. Baden-Württemberg is a popular travel destination, because of its modern and historic cities and famous natural spectacles like the Blautopf in Blaubeuren.
Berlin is the capital and largest city in Germany by area and population (arount 3,7 million inhabitants). Berlin is the third most-visited city destination in Europe!
Brandenburg is the fifth-largest state by area. The capital city is Potsdam. Other famous cities are Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Brandenburg an der Havel.
Bremen is the smallest state of Germany and has the smallest Population. Bremen is a Hanseatic city in northwestern Germany. A lot of the famous sights are found in the Old Town of Bremen.
Hamburg is a Hanseatic Ciy and the second-largest city in Germany (1.8 million). Hamburg lies on the River Elbe and is famous for the harbour and the old warehouse district. A typical Hamburg tour includes a tour through the old warehouse district and a boattour through the harbour. Hamburg was one location for the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
Hesse or Hessia is a state in the middle of Germany with 6 million inhabitants. The capital city of Hesse is Wiesbaden; another famous city is Frankfurt am Main. Frankfurt am Main is also the largest city of State of Hesse. Other famous cities are Kassel, Fulda, Marburg, Darmstadt, Wetzlar and Hanau.
Lower Saxony is the second-largest state by land area. There are 7.9 million inhabitants in Lower Saxony; the state hast the fourth-largest population. The capital city of Lower Saxony is Hanover, other famous cities are Lüneburg, Oldenburg, Osnabrück, Wollfenbüttel and Wolfsburg.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the 6th largest state by land area. The capital city of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is Schwerin, the largest city is Rostock. Other famous cities are Neubrandenburg, Wismar, Greifswald and Stralsund. Over the years the state maintained a strong regional culture, well known as North German.
